Wine tour description
The day tour of Machiavelli’s Villa will start in Florence at 9:30 am, where you will meet our expert wine tour guide for escorting you in the Tuscany countryside.
During the 40-minute drive you will not be bored because you will hear stories and explanations of Tuscany and Tuscan wines, while you admire the wonderful Tuscan landscape.
The first stop will be in a small family run winery where you will meet the owner; you will start listening about their family, history, to continue to visit the cellars, the vineyard and to finish tasting their delicious wines, 2 reds wines and one white wine, or 3 reds wines if the white is sold out.
After this lovely winery, it is time to go to the second winery, a magnificent XV century Villa, built by Machiavelli’s family known as the “Queen of the Chianti villas” and now a National monument.
The Villa is famous also for the garden, considered one of the most beautiful garden of Italy. First Prize winner of the Best Italian Gardens Awards.
At the Villa we will meet the General Manager or his assistant and you will be guided through the cellars, the vineyards, the historical garden where you will be amazed by the ingenious arrangement of rare plants and flowers, dwarf fruits trees, aromatic herbs, 4 season plants, fountains, and the unmissable view over the Tuscany countryside, covered with olives trees, vineyards and cypress trees.
The actual owner even restored the XVI century original irrigation system one of the best preserved in Tuscany. It was designed with stone basins positioned to favor the flow of water from the highest point to the lowest.
Not to mention the equally famous rare Mandrake plant, used for aphrodisiac and fecondative properties.
Finally after this beauty immersion it is time to feast on: a delicious home cooked lunch prepared for us at the Villa paired with their high quality wines.
You will taste a white wine made with 90% of Chardonnay, a Chianti Classico and a Chianti Classico Riserva.
In the Summer we will have lunch outside al fresco, in the courtyard, while in the Fall and in the Winter, lunch will be in the historical kitchen of the Villa.
If we have some time left, you can enjoy some more time for impressive pictures.
We will return to Florence around 4:30 pm.
