Nobile Wine Tour

The Tuscan wine tour in Montepulciano, focuses on a wine called Nobile di Montepulciano, not to be confused with another italian wine, called Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, produced in the south of Italy.

Nobile di Montepulciano Wine Tour

The Nobile di Montepulciano is only produced in the area whose epicenter is Montepulciano, a medieval little town south of Siena.Montepulciano was built in 6C and it is located in a very remarkably and picturesque setting on the top of a tufa hill surrounded by blankets of vineyards.

Nobile DOCG

The regulation for the Nobile, that is a DOCG wine is very severe about the production area (only the territory of Montepulciano), the grapes (Prugnolo), alcoholic gradation (minimum 12%), the age (3 years after the harvest year and 4 years for the Riserva) the bottling (must take place in the production area).

Our first wine tasting stop will be one of the best vineyard of the area to taste the Nobile di Montepulciano and Rosso di Montepulciano along with the visit of the aging cellar.

After a lovely light lunch under the tuscan sun and with traditional tuscan food we will visit another winery for tasting their wines and visit their wine cellar.

Wine Tour program

8.30 a.m. Departure from Florence
11.00 a.m. Arrival at Montepulciano and visit to the first winery, where you can meet the wine grower who will explain all the secrets of wine making, eventually wine tasting.
01.00 p.m. Light lunch at the local restaurant or in a winery.
02.45 p.m. Driving along the hills where you can see the different type of vineyard.
03.30 p.m. Visit to the second winery, where you can visit the cellar and second wine tasting.
06.00 p.m. Return to Florence at approx. 6 p.m

I highly recommend! The small group tours allow you to experience wineries and vineyards big and small. Lunch was included and they accommodated gluten free, vegan, and vegetarian people in the group. Great trip. Slow enough paced not to feel rushed but still a full day. Wineries were wonderful - both the owners and the experience. Only negative and it’s not terrible is that with small, organic wineries, their production volume isn’t that much so you can’t find these wines in the US. Buy and ship, or you’ll miss them

This is a must do tour when you are in Italy, and we loved having Filippo as our guide for the day. Meeting point instructions were very clear, and we received so much valuable insight into Italy, Florence, and wine from Filippo between our three stops. The three wineries we visited were amazing! We had the opportunity to meet each owner and receive a tour prior to sitting down to a wine tasting. The farm-to-table meal we had at La Pia was probably our favorite meal of the trip. Our wine tour with Angela was an absolute DREAM!! We spent 2 weeks traveling Italy, and my husband and I both agree this was our favorite day of our entire trip. We visited 3 small, organic, family owned wineries where we were the only group on the property. The owners each gave us a tour and really shared the complexities of making wine (+ olive oil!) from start to finish. What an amazing experience this was! We booked the Chianti tour that visited three local, family-run wineries and had the best time. I have been on several large group tours, but after taking this one, I’ll never book anything but a small group tour! The experience was so intimate and we learned all about each winery from those who run them - each so passionate about their products. The tour was fun, informative and delicious (of course!). Our guide, Carlo, was phenomenal - he was a very interesting guy who made the experience truly incredible. We will definitely be booking again the next time we’re in Florence! Carlo mentioned that you can relay which wineries you visited, so if you return, they can coordinate an alternative group so you can continue to book with Angie and have different experiences each time! Highly recommend!

What a perfect day spent in the Tuscan countryside touring 3 distinctive wineries! We had the best time during our wine tour with Carlo. It was not only a great way to see the beautiful Tuscan country side, but the 3 boutique wineries made us feel right at home. One of them even cooked us a homemade lunch - which was delicious. Carlo was great to have with us for the day and was just as knowledgable as some of the on-site staff at the wineries. We learned so much and left with a newfound respect for Chianti Classico and Extra Virgin Italian Olive Oil. You even have opportunities to purchase wine and oil from the wineries and ship back to the states. We would highly recommend Angela’s Wine Tours. Was truly one of the biggest highlights of our trip.

We picked this tour from Florence as it seemed to be one of the few that offers small groups (max 8 people) in comparison to some of the companies that would take groups of up to 25-50 people and it was definitely a great decision!
Visiting small 3 family run wineries in Chianti with our very knowledgeable guide, Carlo who was like an old friend on the day.
The wine and food we had on the day was also amazing, only shame was that I couldn’t ship it back to Australia!
If you are looking for a good winery tour from Florence I highly suggest this one :)

Cannot recommend this company enough! Did the Chianti 3 wineries tour with them and it was spectacular! Carlo was our guide and he was extremely knowledgeable and so much fun!

They keep the group size small (HUGE plus in Florence) and the vineyards they pick are all small, family owned vineyards with some exquisite wines (see photos of the vineyards themselves). They even accommodate vegetarian and vegan diet options without compromising on any taste! Would 100% come back to do more wine tours with them!

This was the highlight of our trip to Italy! We went in the off-season (end of November) and it was still beautiful and perfect. Our highly qualified guide, Filippo, was the best! So knowledgeable of the wines, wineries, and history of the region due to being a local to a nearby village in this Chianti region (also gave plenty of other suggestions in Florence). We already rethink our wine shopping now that we have the knowledge of what to look for to have a wonderful and headache free wine (all the wineries were organic so less sulfites, yay!). Each of the wineries offers cheese with bread and unbelievably fresh olive oil (November is the time for fresh press harvest) and the 2nd winery (Lombricaia di Montalbino) was where we had a delicious lunch with the most bubbly and passionate guide for the winery, Chiara. It was an authentic tuscan meal with a beautiful view of the countryside in a very charming restaurant that felt like we were having a family dinner. The day flew by and it was the best part of our trip due to it feeling so intimate and relaxed. Highly recommend this, well worth the price!

What an amazing tour with Claudia! Passionate, knowledgeable, and so much fun learning about Chianti, DOCG, DOC, IGT, and super Tuscany wines. We did a private tour on Sunday. Claudia was right on time at the meeting point, and really went above and beyond by sharing recipes with us, helping us get transportation for all the wines we purchased, and helping get us a taxi the next day. I went on a wine tasting tour with Angie a few years ago and because of the great experience I booked again for May 2013. Angie’s tour was already fully booked so we were in Olivia’s group, another awesome day! The whole region is beautiful and there are plenty of tour operators but for me Angie’s personal service and small groups make her the go-to company for your Tuscan wine tasting tour.
